Welcome To Make Food Your Medicine Movement!
I started this movement because I am pissed off about the epidemic cases of food related diseases in the African American Community. I am pissed because our communities are so dam naive and trusting, thinking the food industry cares about the quality of food they are engineering and selling. There is a reluctancy to seek the level of education and action require protect ourselves and our children from becoming overweight and suffering from chronic diseases: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer, acid reflux to mane a few.
The food industry is engineering concoctions that are chemically processed and made from refined, synthetic ingredients and artificial substances, it is generally known as “Processed Food,” and unfortunately 62% of the food you eat is processed foods. Processed food is causing epidemic cases of type 2 diabetes and other chronic disease in our communities.
According to the 2013 census there are approximately 315 million people in America and 45 million are African Americans. Data from the 2014 National Diabetes Statistics Report, confirms 29 million cases of type 2 diabetes in America and 16 million are African Americans.

So let me recap these statistics, the total US population was about 315 million, African American were 45 million and of the 29 million cases of type 2 diabetes 16 million are African Americans. There is something seriously wrong with this picture.
These statistics are alarming! Type 2 diabetes is causing debilitating affects in our community, we are experiencing shorter life spans, amputations, kidney, heart, eye disease, strokes and blindness. These statistics will not change until we totally reverse our lifestyle of eating from unhealthy to healthy, unclean to clean. So within so without!

I did just that in 2010, I was diagnose type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux and obesity. Every time I went for my quarterly doctors appointment I was being warned of some other medical issue. I hated going to the doctor and I feared for my life. I knew I had to change my lifestyle. I had to make my health a number one priority.
At the age of 62 I enrolled in a health coaching program and it changed the trajectory of my life. I was able to control and eventually reverse type 2 diabetes, reduce the number of prescription drugs from 8 to 2 and released 17 pounds which I wasn't able to release in the past 20 years. I took 100% responsibility for my health. Don’t you think its time for you to do the same? The picture above was taken last summer in September 2017 I am 69 1/2 years old.
